Greenwich Youth Band
AGES 11-18
GRADE 6+
Greenwich Youth Band (GYB) was established in 1982, in response to a need among local young musicians for an advanced band outside the school environment.

The band consists of approximately 60 young musicians (resident in and around the borough of Greenwich), whose standard of playing is unsurpassed locally, and it provides the much needed experience of rehearsing, learning and performing a wide range of styles of music to an exceptionally high standard.
REHEARSALS
The band rehearses weekly and performs all over the borough throughout the year, under the leadership of Amy Hagerty and Laura Swadkin. They play a wide range of music, from classical to jazz, from marches to pop, and they are in constant demand for concerts and fetes in the area, and have helped raise thousands of pounds for charity.

TOURS
The band has a successful history of tours. Band members love these tours, and the concert audiences are very enthusiastic and appreciative. Previous destinations have included Barcelona, Tuscany, Salzburg, Paris and Prague, Somerset, Lake Garda, Germany and Shropshire. We had a fantastic '3 Country Tour' to Germany, Holland and Belgium in July 2024!
