Greenwich String Ensemble

GSE is for string players from beginner to Grade 8 standard. Aged between 7 and 18 years, members rehearse weekly, and work towards an end-of-term concert.

Members are split into Junior and Senior ensembles, based on their experience and ability, where specialist tutors lead them in exploring and developing the musical techniques necessary for successful and enjoyable ensemble playing.

In the second half of each session, the groups combine to form a string orchestra. This gives them an invaluable experience of playing in a large group, and prepares them for the discipline of orchestra rehearsals.

There is the opportunity to expand the Senior Ensemble into a Chamber Orchestra, when demand is high enough.
