Chris Lloyd
Chris Lloyd began his musical career at the age of fifteen, receiving instruction on the flute when he joined the Army. He studied flute, bass guitar, composition and arranging at the Royal Military School of Music Kneller Hall, before embarking on a life of musical travel with his regiment, visiting Europe and Hong Kong.
In 1970, he joined the Royal Artillery Band, where he was principal flute for seven years and soon began teaching the flute in various local schools. When he left the Army in 1983, his teaching expanded and he now teaches in eight schools a week.
In 1984, he took over as director of the Greenwich Youth Band, which he still conducts. In 1990, the senior members of the band formed the Greenwich Concert Band, for adult musicians, which Chris has conducted from its beginning.
